New Jersey Boardwalks

If you are headed to a New Jersey beach town, then be sure to check out some of the fun and fascinating boardwalks right along the beach in several NJ beach communities. In this post, we will tell you about some of the main boardwalks along the New Jersey coast, so you can get a feel for which ones you may want to visit during you trip.

However, we will not be able to cover them all, so you may want to see which boardwalks are closest to where you are staying and decide where you may want to go. To give you some perspective, we will tell you where the following boardwalks are in relation to the Newark area, in case that is where you are flying into New Jersey.

One of the most-famous and most-visited boardwalks in New Jersey is the Seaside Heights Boardwalk, which is just about an hour and a half drive from the Newark area. This boardwalk is over a mile long and is located just north of Long Beach Island. Here, you can try your luck at the Casino Pier or ride some rides at Funtown Amusement Pier, which are the two 300-foot piers that bookend the boardwalk. Along the boardwalk, you can play some fun carnival-style games, check out the souvenir shops, or get a slice of pizza at a pizzeria. Plus, the beach along the boardwalk is pretty nice. Adults will enjoy the many bars and clubs that light up the boardwalk for an active nightlife scene.

Another popular boardwalk is the Atlantic City boardwalk. You just can’t leave this one out. During the day, you can enjoy many souvenir shops, retail stores, restaurants, and more. At night, the boardwalk is alive with lights and activity as people enjoy the casinos, restaurants, and other amusements found along the Jersey shore. Although some might say that the Atlantic City boardwalk is not what it once was, you will likely still want to pay it a visit. Atlantic City is about a two-hour drive from Newark, NJ in a 15 passenger van rental.

If you want to make the two-hour drive from Newark to Ocean City, NJ, we think you will enjoy the Ocean City Boardwalk. This 2.5-mile boardwalk has many classic boardwalk features, including souvenirs, snacks, ice cream, pizza, games, rides (like bumper cars), miniature golf, and even water rides. If you come to Ocean City Boardwalk, you can also enjoy a romantic evening walk, take a surrey ride, or even grab some adventure on a roller coaster. Ocean City Boardwalk has it all and is a great place for adults with kids, because this Ocean City is considered a “dry town” and alcohol is not sold within its borders and keeps the atmosphere pretty family-friendly.

Although there are many boardwalks you can enjoy in New Jersey, these three are among the best. Maybe you will decide to tour all the local boardwalks, hitting one a day during your stay in New Jersey. You can easily drive from New Jersey beach town to beach town in your Newark passenger van rental, making the trip fun, affordable, and comfortable as you journey from boardwalk to boardwalk.
