Whether you enjoy hiking, water skiing, camping, or even bird watching, Jordan Lake Recreation Area has it all. The Jordan Lake State Recreation Area is actually made up of nine different recreation areas, including Crosswinds Campground, Ebenezer Church, Parker’s Creek, Poplar Point, Seaforth, Vista Point, Robeson Creek, New Hope Overlook, and White Oak Recreation Area. Each recreational area within Jordan Lake State Recreation Area offers a variety of recreational opportunities for adults and families alike.

Here are just a few things you can enjoy while visiting Jordan Lake State Recreation Area in North Carolina:

  • Spot a bald eagle above the glistening waters of Jordan Lake, known for supporting the largest group of bald eagle populations in the eastern United States.
  • Go boating from one end of Jordan Lake to the other, exploring the beautiful NC shoreline. Boat ramps are open 24 hours a day at both Ebenezer Church and Robeson Creek areas. You may also decide to test your skills at windsurfing or sailing, another popular pastime at Jordan Lake.
  • Set up camp in your NC motor home rental at Crosswinds Campground, Parker’s Creek, or Poplar Point. Together, these Jordan Lake State Recreational Campgrounds have more than 1,000 sites available to NC visitors.
  • Attend one of the Jordan Lake ranger’s educational programs or events. You can search the Jordan Lake State Recreational Area’s database (available on its website) for events occurring during your stay.
  • Get to know more about the natural and historical aspects of the recreation area at the Jordan Lake Exhibit Hall, which is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
  • Hike one of the many trails in the Jordan Lake Recreation Area. Experienced hikers will want to check out the more difficult New Hope Trail.

We do want to note however that if you plan to stay overnight in your RV rental from Raleigh you may want to call the campground in advance to book your campsite. Jordan Lake State Recreational Area is a popular place to visit, and sites can fill up quickly. Camping on an RV site with electricity and water hookup typically costs about $25 a night, which is really affordable even if you do have to pay a $6 entrance fee into the park.
