When you think of New Jersey, you most likely think of the state next to New York. But the state of New Jersey has a wide variety of things all its own. One thing New Jersey offers America is its vast assortment of state parks and national wildlife locations. These make excellent vacationing spots for you, your family, and your friends.

One state park of New Jersey is the Allamuchy Mountain State Park. This park is found in Hackerttstown. Over 14 miles of marked trails provide hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding in the Allamuchy Natural Area. Another 20 miles of unmarked trails are ready for those who wish to try hiking in the northern section of the park.

At Allamuchy Mountain State Park is the Musconetcong River, which is known as being one of the best places to trout fish in the entire state! Many trails also lead you to venture through the marshlands, which are very neat to see. Rock climbing is also something you may find fun.

A second state park of New Jersey is High Point State Park. Located only seven minutes from Sussex, this park is a perfect day trip for you to take in your New York RV Rental.  Visit High Point Monument while you are here to see a monument that honors all war veterans. Built in 1930, this 220-foot structure shows those who visit a breathtaking view of the Catskill Mountains.

Another highlight of the park is swimming. Spring waters make up 20-acre Lake Marcia and present a perfect beach area and swimming for all. There is even a bathhouse and food concessions nearby! Or try out hiking trails that vary in length from only a half-mile to 19 miles.

Yet another state park you are sure to like would be Swartswood State Park – New Jersey’s very first state park. It is well-known for its fishing and peaceful settings. So many lakes are in the park, because glaciers formed them many years ago. Keep an eye out for bald eagles and rare plant life.

At Swartswood State Park, various campsites are available. Many motorhome rentals in New York offer you a chance to spend a night here at the park.  Make sure to call ahead for reservations to ensure you have a spot in the park! Check the park’s sailboats you can rent and take out on the water.

New Jersey offers a vast assortment of different state parks for your enjoyment. Take advantage of this and be sure to visit one the next time you are in Sussex, New Jersey, or the surrounding area. You are sure to enjoy the peace and quiet the New Jersey wilderness has to offer!
