Several weeks ago we opened a series on different Disney parks in Florida starting with Epcot. Today we will look at the most famous park, and the one you probably picture when we say Disney World. That park we will explore today is the Magic Kingdom.
The Magic Kingdom’s theme is to capture the enchantment of fairy tales and Disney characters. The layout is similar to a wheel with the hub being Cinderella’s Castle and the spokes being the seven different lands of the theme park. These different lands include:
- Main Street
- Adventureland
- Frontierland
- Liberty Square
- Fantasyland
- Mickey’s Toontown Fair
- Tomorrowland
Many famous rides and attractions can be found throughout the park. One of the most famous rides is Splash Mountain. You will ride in a log that goes through caves before dropping almost 53 feet! Those in the front get the most wet, but everyone in the log will most likely enjoy a little shower.
Another famous ride is Space Mountain. You will ride in a space station while shooting through the galaxy. Also go on a calm boat ride called It’s a Small World where you will boat through rooms and rooms of dolls from all around the world. Remember the famous elephant Dumbo? Take a ride in him or his buddies as you take a flight in the air.
Children especially enjoy walking through life-size homes of both Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Also try Mickey’s Philharmagic, a fun 3-D movie that stars both Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. One of the newest attractions is Pirates of the Caribbean. Enjoy traveling through caves, hunting for the famous Jack Sparrow.
Keep your eyes out for characters as they will be wandering around the park ready to take pictures with you or give you their autographs. Many really neat places can be found around the park to quench your thirst and hunger. Visit the Enchanted Grove for snacks, smoothies, and drinks.
For dinner, we recommend trying Tony’s Town Square. This restaurant is set to the theme of the Disney classic Lady and the Tramp, where these two dogs share spaghetti and a kiss. Enjoy not only spaghetti but also a variety of pizzas, salads, fish, and other pasta dishes.
After dinner, be sure to visit several gift stores along Main Street to stock up on your Disney souvenirs. Look for Disney appeal, stuffed animals, movies, and even glass characters. And remember that shopping can be found by all the major rides and attractions, not just downtown.
To wrap up a wonderful day at Magic Kingdom, stay and watch a parade and a fireworks presentation after the sun sets. Enjoy the beautiful scene of colorful fireworks above Cinderella’s famous castle. This is sure to be the perfect ending to your day!
The “happiest place on earth” is only a 3 ½ hour drive from Fort Lauderdale in your Fort Lauderdale van rental. Because of the many things to do both at Disney and Fort Lauderdale, we recommend you stay several days at both places on your vacation.
You will certainly want to rent a car in Fort Lauderdale or wherever you are staying to check out Disney and its many parks. Check back with us as we continue our series on the Disney parks to visit in Orlando, Florida
