Although Park City, Utah, got its start due to silver mining, today people flock to the area for another reason – snow. Light, powdery, perfect-to-play-on snow. And if you enjoy winter sports, you’re probably counting down the hours until the opening day of ski season. We’d like to suggest a great hotel right in the middle of all the action, the Treasure Mountain Inn.
Located within the historic district on Main Street, the Inn offers 4-diamond accommodations (AAA rated) in the heart of the town. It sits in between the Deer Valley and Park City ski resorts, and is just a 5-minute walk from the town ski lift. After a day of downhill skiing or snowmobiling, hotel guests can just step outside to check out the shops, art galleries, restaurants and nightlife.
Rooms and Amenities
Built in 1963, the Treasure Mountain Inn was Park City’s first condominium-type hotel. An extensive renovation was completed earlier this year, with updated rooms, a spacious spa (10’x20’ in size!) with waterfalls, a glass elevator and more. Amenities include a café, fitness room, free WIFI, laundry facilities, courtyard, meeting rooms and on-site parking.
All guest rooms are impeccably decorated with plush king or queen beds, comfortable leather furniture and warm colors. Beautiful, full kitchens with granite countertops are an added convenience if you prefer making some of your own meals and snacks, especially if you’re travelling with the kids.
Junior Suites overlook the courtyard and can accommodate 1-2 people; rates range from $195-310 per night during ski season. You can choose either a Main Street or courtyard view in the 1-Bedroom Suites, which sleep up to four people; rates range from $250-430 per night. Two-Bedroom Suites have a second bathroom, and can accommodate up to six; rates range from $415-650 during ski season. Rollaway beds are also available for an additional charge.
If you’re looking for an eco-conscious hotel, you’ll find it in the Treasure Mountain Inn. In addition to their daily green practices, the Inn was the recipient of the 2011 Park City Environmental Hero Award, and all metal removed during renovations was sent to be recycled.
Park City is a virtual mecca for all types of winter recreation. Be sure to inquire about snowmobile rentals or cross-country skiing on one of the many self-guided trails in the area.
