Visiting the town of Hope Mills, North Carolina

by April Shuttleworth on December 18, 2011

The town of Hope Mills in North Carolina got its name from the textile industry that was up and running back in the 1800’s. This area of the country was quite strong in the mill industry and had many villages and houses for families of those working in the mills. Today, you can visit this town and tour places of history and enjoy other places to visit.

One place you can visit in Hope Mills is the Battlefield Military Museum. Here you will learn about soldiers of years ago and be able to ask questions about the history of the United States. Another place you can check out is the Museum of the Cape Fear.

More to See in Hope Mills:

The Museum of the Cape Fear is in Fayetteville only six miles from Hope Mills. Here you will learn the history of southern North Carolina. This history goes back as far as the prehistoric days and covers up to the present. You’ll find three buildings here – the museum itself, the 1897 Poe House, and Arsenal Park.

The Poe House Museum is the home of famous Edgar Allen Poe. This former Poe home is not in relation to the writer Poe but to the successful Fayetteville brickyard owner. Mr. Poe owned many buildings around town that are still standing today.

You may find it ironic that although Mr. Poe made his living from bricks, his own home was not made of bricks but of wood. You are sure to enjoy a tour of this North Carolina museum.

If your kids are coming with you on this North Carolina vacation in your North Carolina RV rental, then you may want to drive to the Fasinate U Children’s Museum. Children will love exploring here as they interact and learn with each other and the many objects and displays set up just for them. With hands-on exhibits, they will be able to play with everything.

At Fasinate U Children’s Museum, everything is kid-sized. Your children can go grocery shopping at the Gro-Right Grocery and Deli, forecast the weather at the WNUZ center, and even wear a judge’s robe as they hold a special gavel.

Other popular tourist attracts to check out with your NC RV rental are the Fayetteville Museum of Art, Cape Fear Botanical, Fort Bragg, and Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club. If you’d like more info on these places, please ask us!
