If you are venturing to the West Coast to the states of Oregon or California, we’d like to suggest a unique encounter you can have there! The place is Shambala Preserve. It is located in Acton, California. It isn’t every day you can venture into the Shambala Preserve, but it does open up to the public one weekend a month by advance reservation!
For an afternoon safari adventure, Shambala Preserve is the place to go. It is home to over 60 big cats including lions, tigers, spotted leopards, cougars, bobcats, Asian leopard cats, jungle cats, and even a liger. Safari adventures are offered for anyone over 18 and cost $50 per person.
On Your Safari:
For your safari afternoon, definitely wear comfy shoes. You’ll walk along dirt pathways and other terrain that comfortable shoes would be ideal for. You will also want to wear pants, as much brush or shrubbery can rub your legs. And last but not least, be sure to bring your camera for some great up-close shots of these large cats.
You’ll find Shambala Preserve in your Oregon RV rental at 6867 Soledad Canyon. Your safari in Oregon consists of a three-hour planned program. This program includes a one-hour guided, walking tour. You’ll want to arrive and check in 30 minutes prior to the scheduled tour. Tours will start promptly at the scheduled time. And again, you’ll want to book in advance (at least a month or two as spots fill up quite quickly).
If you’d like to sit at the table and chairs around the lake area at the reserve, you are definitely welcome to do so. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy it after your visit that ends at Shambala Lake. And make sure to bring lots of water, especially in the hot summer months. Before you leave, make sure to check out the fun souvenirs at the Shambala Boutique.
Summertime brings warm evenings to this part of the country and more adventure for you! Take part in one of the sunset safari trips here at Shambala Preserve. For one day a month from May through September, you can take part in this summer safari.
On the sunset safari, you’ll be able to enjoy the changes that take place across the land as the sun sets. You’ll see flocks of birds settling for the night and see the cats become active too. And if you are very lucky, you may even hear the calls of tigers and roars of lions. Appetizers and drinks will be served, and casual entertainment will also be presented.
